Easy Rider

I have no idea how long it takes most kids to lean to ride a bike once the raining wheels come off. but ReRe surprised me! Since she is the oldest, we had never done this before, but I was expecting several tries, some falls- you know. That's just the picture I had in my head, I guess. I thought it best for Daddy to take off the training wheels and teach her. It just seems like a "Dad" thing to do, besides, I wasn't looking forward to the scrapes and bruises I thought we were in for. So we waited until ReRe, Daddy and the bike were all in the same state.

A little practice happened at the lake, but it's not the best terrain for learning.....

The big event happened as a spur of the moment stop to Ama's house, so ReRe wasn't really dressed appropriately, but it worked. She learned to ride a bike in purple cowgirl boots- how very ReRe. It only took her once or twice up and down the street and she was on her own!

There was cheering in the street!!

She admitted one small scrape

Daddy is very proud

So now she is a bike ridin' fool- wants to take her bike everywhere in the back of the car!

Being 7 years old had something to do with it, I'm sure. She just recently learned to tie shoes also, but you know what? I showed her ONCE and she had it! She loves to wear her pink converse now just so she can tie them! Another example of "better late than early!"

Blogging is such a neat way to journal and for Daddy to read and see what has gone on and is going on. Also great for OLD friends!! Love it!

Happy Bike riding "Easy Rider"

Love,
Beth
